Daum Chapter 2

       In Chapter 2 Daum's passage "We're Lying: Safe Sex and White Lies in the Time of Aids" is a reality check type of scary. The things that we can contract and do to our bodies are scary. If your not carful a sexual transmitted diseases or prgnancy could potentially ruin your life. In the article the description of the diseases such as AIDS are horrific an unforgiving. It really makes you think of what I can do to my body now as a kid that will effect me when I am older. Just like in Daum's writing about trust, I can trust the friends I associate with today. Its sad that everyone today is a mystery and you really don't know you can trust people for awhile. I saw a speaker not to long ago about save sex and what not. She had told me that what she had thought to be safe sex ended up to her getting herpes. It hurt her life in so many ways, yet she keeps a perky attitude about it. By her going out speaking about safe sex she inspires others.

Tesich Chapter 2

       In Chapter 2 Tesich writes about expressing or not expressing his love for his friends and family. Depending on what the relationship or connection was for that person he would say I love you. For guys he never told them he loved them, for girls he would say I love you and have the emoition nailed down unlike the guys.  Tesich realized that it is best to not nail down the emotion with a person. Once you do that towards another the way you act towards that them is always going to be different now. When you do that the emotion has been nailed down or set in stone where as by not telling them nailing you can still prove to them through your actions. I can relate to Tesich's writing because i have nailed down my love for my girlfriend of 2 years. Yet, even with girls i show more emotion towards them then I do with most of my guy friends. Unless it is the kids I grew up with or have great experiences with then I can nail it down and say I love you because they are like family to me.
       

Kramer Chapter 2

  In Chapter 2 in Kramer's article he tried answering the question, "why do college students work so much?" In today's society, prices for school are way to high. Kramer writes about how school prices are going up each year. What this does is makes students work more hours at low wage jobs so they can try and collect as much money as they can for college. Students today are swamped with college loans until they are 40. Its like a small morage. As a college student I can relate to the issue. Even though I go to a SUNY school and prices are lower, I still have to take out loans each year. If the prices continue to rise I believe that some students will make it into schools they want but won't be able to afford them. The raising of prices can make students study at community schools for a year or two to save some money and then later transfer. Maybe even some colleges lowering prices or be forced to close.
           

Chapter 2 Erin Mallants Rodriguez

  In Erin Mallants Rodriguez's passage he talks about how woman are out numbering men in education especially at the college level. In today's time and day women are trying to get out there and make a living for themselves. "At Miami Dade College, 38 percent of students in fall 2003 were men." Suny Plattsburgh as a greater population of woman students then population of men in the 2012 Fall semester. Woman use to have very slim amount of things they could do, but woman are moving up in todays society. "Females tend to be better permforming students, perhaps due to their level of maturity, Corpuz said." This is leading to better oppurtunities for woman to be accepted into colleges and later become higher people in society.

Chapter 2 Mindy Sink

         In Mindy Sink's passage she informs everyone about the deaths of teens in colleges because of the  irresponsibility of alcohol abuse. She uses examples of deaths related to alcohol in the University of Colorado and Colorado State University. She mentions students from Colorado that died from alcohol poisoning after a night of binge drinking. Sink also mentions that the binge drinking problem isn't only in Colorado but across the United States.
    In the passages she interviewed Russell Harverson, who owned the liquor store. He said, "These kids are away from home for the first time and are not taught to drink responsibly." What Mr. Harverson said is true, because I have first and witnessed new college kids get really drunk and get alcohol poisoning and throw up. Kids have a sense of freedom and they go overboard which leads to a irresponsible consumption of alcohol.

Chaper 2 Rebecca Dince

When Facebook first came out in 2004 it was a save haven for college students to express themselves through their profiles and to connect with each other. Facebook was easy accessed to, mainly used to to conduct a background searches for people applying for jobs. Like any good thing there was a downside to it. People started to put up pictures of them drinking and what not. Now a days 8 years later Facebook is a completely different site. Facebook today  is a social media site for friends and family to get interactive. But you should watch out what you put on facebook these days. Kids don't realize thta anyone can view your profile and pictures colleges and all. If you put up pictures of you doing illegal substances, drinking or sexual activites anyone can see it including your college! Yes, your college can kick you out for just the pictures or videos you post and not only your college but maybe a place your trying to get higher at won't higher you. This can led to you getting kicked out and having no education and no job. So watch out what you put on facebook because it can ruin your life in the end!
